There Is More To You Than Meets The Eye
Hello dear reader. As I write this, I am sitting in my neighbor’s house. I arrived home yesterday (after a week-long trip) and was too tired to write. At the moment there is no internet service at my house, so my neighbor suggested I come to her house. I accepted her kind and generous offer, and here I am. Where there is a will, there is a way. I am grateful to all who read this blog weekly, and I am dedicated to continuity, content, and consistency, so here I am, at 8:00 p.m., tapping on computer keys.
I just returned from the second annual Soulogy Fest just outside of Ozark, Arkansas. The event took place in a magical and lush green setting called Mulberry Mountain. It was set in a huge field of verdant grass encircled by the Ozark Mountains with puffy cumulus clouds above.
With the naked eye, we were able to see Arcturus, Lyra, and Antares at night, along with the constellations: Scorpio, Swan, Cygnus, the Big Dipper, and Teapot. As if that weren’t spectacular enough, the Milky Way shone brightly as well.
I attended the first annual Soulogy Fest in Sedona, Arizona, a year ago, and it was so delightful that I was determined to attend this year as well. At the end of this article, I will leave links to all things Soulogy as I believe it is a powerful platform for people from all walks of life, but especially those dedicated to consciousness, awakening, and creating a New Earth. As a matter of fact, this website, as well as the Creators of New Earth Facebook page I created, were inspired by Soulogy.
The acronym is CONE (representing the pineal gland, third eye, and inner vision), and I created my platforms as a branch of the Soulogy Family Tree. I invite you to join the Creators of New Earth page on Facebook if that is a social media outlet that you utilize. The more, the merrier! I post lots of inspiring content on there, and I also go live, which has garnered a very positive response. Soon, I will be bringing people on with me in a loose interview format, but more like a conversation. I created CONE as a community-based platform for people of like minds and hearts to connect.
I found Soulogy in February of 2020, just after foot surgery, and right around the time, the pandemic reared its ugly head. As with many, so much of what I saw during the pandemic just did not sit right with me. Like so many people, I had tons of questions, and the more I looked for answers, the more disillusioned I became. It was a huge wake-up call for me. At some point, I decided to tune into the brighter side of life. There was a dark narrative being portrayed in mainstream media, and I knew that if I searched, I could find people who were following a different narrative.
The more I searched, the more I found. They see you always find what you are looking for, and I found it in spades! In Soulogy, I found people from all over the nation and world who were/are awakening to their own inner wisdom, capacity, creativity, power, and resilience. Most of these people have never met in person, and yet many were having overlapping experiences and the same visions for the world they want to create - I was instantly intrigued. I listened to conversation after conversation daily for months on end.
Eventually, Todd Medina (the host and creator of Soulogy, along with his wife Morgan Lee) brought me to Soulogy for a conversation. I have been invited back three times since then. At first, I could not imagine what I might have to say that might be half as intriguing as what all the other guests had to say. I was surprised by people's responses and comments. I realized that, yes, I did have something to say that mattered. My wheels started turning.
I have always loved to write, I have always loved to inspire others, and I was also becoming interested in creating a podcast or a format similar to Soulogy. Not knowing where to begin and having a lot of fear around modern technology, I did not act on my vision for years until now. Though CONE is just in its infancy stages, I know that with diligence, commitment, and courage, CONE will one day become more massive than I ever could have imagined.
CONE is not about me; it’s about you and us and what we can create together as a community of soulful humans who wish to create something new outside the confines of what society has told us is possible. There are millions of people all over the world waking up to their potential and the power of people in numbers to create sustainable and lasting change - so, here we are. Everyone is doing it in their own way. Some are homeschooling their children; others are inventing things; people are delving into permaculture, while others are creating new communities.
The possibilities are endless, and there are infinite amounts of imagination to fuel everyone’s dreams. If you feel moved, I would love it if you would leave a comment below, letting people know what you are doing that is new to you and that you believe is contributing to moving yourself and humanity forward at this time. I know people would love to hear about my friend’s new life in Texas. I know people would love to hear about my friend’s life in Jamaica and how she is helping people like me. I have so many beautiful friends doing wonderful things for humanity, and I hope some of them pipe up here.
This community grows when you, the reader, share in the comments. You never know how your share may open someone’s mind to a new idea, a new way of doing something, or to a world of possibility. I alone am not a community, so I invite you all to contribute and participate and begin to engage so we can build our network. If you do decide to contribute, I thank you in advance. And now, let’s move on to the subject of the title - There Is More To You Than Meets The Eye!
When you are born, you are given a name. As you grow, your personality begins to form. Eventually, you go to school, where you are taught to memorize a bunch of facts until you graduate from high school. Along the way, your family, teachers, along with the movie industry, the media, medical institutions, the church, and your television imprint you with ideologies, ways of thinking, and beliefs. Your mind is molded by all of the information passed along to you from birth until now, along with the way you have reacted or responded to the experiences you have had.
Unhealed traumas and wounds are carried in your mind, body, and cellular memory until transformed, healed, or released. Some of your experiences may have been so traumatic that they have been blocked altogether and now lay dormant in your subconscious. The vast majority of humans believe that they are victims of circumstance, with no way out. How many people stay in a relationship “for the kids” or at a job they hate because they need the money, or in a friendship they have outgrown because they do not want to hurt their friend’s feelings?
Doesn’t this seem like a grim picture? We come to Earth, we are inundated with second-hand ideas and belief systems, and then we get stuck in scenarios we believe are beyond our control to change. Our life is planned for us from the beginning. It goes like this: preschool, school, college, marriage, house, mortgage, two-week vacations, retirement, death. Really? Do you think that is what your soul signed up for before you were born? Granted, if you are reading this, you probably did not follow this prescribed formula, or maybe you did and decided it wasn’t for you.
Many are still following this formula without any knowledge that it is a premeditated track instilled to keep humanity stuck in a maze of false beliefs, artificial desires, and an endless craving for more things - the endless cycle of consumption. It is up to us to break the mold, live differently, and live by example. We do it for ourselves first so that we can live a life designed by ourselves for ourselves, something which our heart and soul can deeply embrace as a good use of a life, rare to come by, and a miracle in itself.
As our numbers grow, people around us start to notice that they too, can break the mold. You may do it for yourself at first, but as you go along, you will realize that by example, you are affecting others both directly and indirectly. Think of the people in your life who have been a positive influence or the people who you have influenced. Now think of a community of people who have done the same. There are so many people today who are creating change in every facet of life that it’s almost impossible to keep up.
In the last article, I shared this same information, and I believe it is worth repeating; in their jointly written book, Words Can Change Your Brain, Dr. Andrew Newberg, a neuroscientist at Thomas Jefferson University, and Mark Robert Waldman, a communications expert state, “a single word has the power to influence the expression of genes that regulate physical and emotional stress.” Imagine! The power of a single word can influence genetic expression and the regulation of our physical and emotional stress.
I barely know where to begin! There are many things we have been taught that, eventually, we learn are not true. How do you suppose those beliefs have affected our genetic expression and our physical and mental health? Imagine, for instance, during times of segregation ( and even up to now)) all the lies propagated by white people about black people. Imagine the endless conflict between the Palestinians and the Israeli people. We can see the immense physical, emotional and mental carnage, damage, trauma, and distress words have caused in both of these cases and how long-lasting their effect is.
From birth, we are inundated with words. Many of these words are not even true, and yet their imprints are there in our body, some dormant, some active. How do we begin to discover what beliefs we carry which are not true or which words were spoken to us that affect our behavior even up to today? As an example, I will share with you my fear of doing new things and my pattern of perfectionism.
Growing up, my family used to go to the forest to gather wood to heat our home. My Dad would bring his chainsaw, and sometimes we would go together, three families at a time. Once the back of the truck was filled, we would return. Upon return, we would stack the would in piles. My Father taught us how to stack the wood so the pile would not topple over.
The first time my Father showed me how to do this, he showed us very quickly and then returned to the truck to unload more wood. My brother and I continued stacking the wood. All of a sudden, I heard the booming voice of my Father behind me. Standing on the truck bed, he yelled, “ Julie! That’s not how you do it! I just showed you how to do it!” I turned around to see the look of disappointment and frustration on his face.
I was both startled and saddened. It would be many years before I made the connection between that experience and my fear of doing something new for the first time. Subconsciously, I believed that whatever I did, I should do it perfectly the first time in order to avoid disappointing or frustrating anyone and especially not to hear that booming voice.
It is forty-seven years later, and I am still working on dislodging that experience from my cellular memory. You remember the statement, “a single word has the power to influence the expression of genes. “ You have seen that words have been the cause of prejudice, bigotry, and war. Even my Father, never meaning to harm me, left an imprint on me that has lasted a lifetime.
I take the time to write this to inspire you to innerstand and believe the power of words and to use them with care as they affect your reality (and your biology (as we have seen) and the reality of those you share them with. I use the word innerstand because we are not doomed to stand under anything (understand). We create our reality with our words, and this is why I prefer the self-referencing word of innerstand.
“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
- LaoTzu
The famous psychologist Carl Jung said, “ Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate “ Many words spoken to us are buried in our subconscious. Entire bloodlines and genetic lineages carry stories and beliefs in their genes. In this way, beliefs and stories are carried from generation to generation for better or for worse. In his book The Biology of Belief, Dr. Bruce Lipton, a cell biologist with thirty years of research under his belt, has discovered that, in fact, we are not bound to be forever at the effect of our genes and DNA. His research has proven that beliefs control human biology rather than DNA or inheritance.
He says that beliefs and thoughts alter the cells in our bodies. He also says that the moment we change our perception is the moment we rewrite the chemistry in our bodies. Imagine a commercial for your new life “But wait - there’s more - change your beliefs today and get the life you always dreamed of for free. We will also include self-reliance, self-accountability, and self-responsibility at no extra cost to you. Call 1-800-NEW-LIFE, and we will rush your order now with free shipping! “ Haha, it’s good to add some levity to everything we possibly can. Part of enlightenment is to lighten up!
Well, guys, it is now almost 1 a.m., and I am still at my neighbor’s house writing, so I am going to close here. I have so much more to say about how you are so much more than meets the eye. This one may have one or two more parts because there is a lot of ground to cover. This subject is a book in itself. I hope you have had fun reading and that you will be looking forward to reading again next week. In the meantime, enjoy yourself and use your words with care. And remember - you are so much more than you can even conceive. You are powerful, strong, imaginative, creative, and beautiful, and you can create the life you want if only you believe! Mind your thoughts and your inner dialogue, and keep dancing through life because you rock!
