Language and Communication
Language and History
The history of language is complex and is largely dependant upon archeological findings. Though there is still much debate over the issue , there does seem to be a common denominator which includes hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt and cuneiform script of Mesopotamia ( civilizations in Western Asia/Middle East) as being the oldest written languages. Dates given vary , but it is safe to place the emergence of these languages around the late 4th millennium BC.
Hieroglyphs and cuneiform were of course predated by rock and cave paintings. The oldest rock painting found is 75,000 years old. It was found in Blombos Cave east of Cape Town in South Africa. The oldest cave painting ( to date) was found on the Island of Borneo and is believed to be 52,000 years old.
How captivating to contemplate how both written and spoken language came into being ! It is also fascinating to think about the evolution, birth and even death of languages. There are many reasons for the loss of language including: displacement, migration, ethnic cleansing and colonisation, war, disease and socioeconomics, globalization, and the dominance of English.
Currently there are 7,000 languages spoken globally. It is estimated that a whopping 50 to 90 percent of all languages will become extinct by the end of the century. This is unfathomably overwhelming when you consider what is lost when language is lost. What will become of the history, stories and songs that get passed down from generation to generation? When language is lost so are customs, rites, rituals and culture.
For further exploration or this topic you can do searches using the words cultural homogenization and also hegemony of culture.
A World of Thoughts
There is a saying, “ With our thoughts, we create the world ". Besides experience, emotions and feelings, language is the primary means by which all our perceptions are formed. Even our thoughts are made of words. Language is beautiful, fascinating, complex, and also limiting - especially when it comes to perception. The five senses are: touch, taste, vision, hearing and smelling. These are tangible experiences all of which can be described with language ( most of the time).
We also use language to describe our emotions and feelings. Artists often use their preferred medium as a way of conveying a message not limited by words. Perhaps this is why humans have always had a love affair with music, dance and art - because it frees us from the confines of words.
Words are not our only form of communication. We also communicate through body language, facial expression and tone of voice. Sometimes it is not what we say and do, but what we do not say, or do not do, that communicates a message. Both language and communication are highly complex. It goes without saying that language and communication are not reserved for humans alone.
Everything communicates
Animals have their own complex continuums of communication through behaviors, sounds and gestures. Even bacteria communicates. “Bacteria communicate with one another, not with words but with chemicals. Bacteria release these chemical molecules (called autoinducers) into their environment and then they use the buildup of these signaling molecules to take a census of their cell numbers.” (1)
Trees also communicate through complex root systems. “In fact, by analyzing the DNA in root tips and tracing the movement of molecules through underground conduits, groundbreaking scientist Suzanne Simard has discovered that in a healthy forest, these tiny fungal threads link the roots of nearly every tree — and that “one teaspoon of forest soil contains several miles of fungal filaments.” (2)
Trees have the ability to record their history in their rings. They can sense danger, send danger signals to neighboring trees, protect their kin, heal themselves, and also keep elder fallen trees alive for years. Trees can also learn and make decisions. Much of this is mentioned in the article below ( see “Resources for Further Research “).
Water Holds Memory
Like the tree that can remember drought and can record its history in its rings, water too has memory. Anything that comes into contact with water leaves an imprint. In other words, it receives and makes an imprint of any outside influence, remembering everything that occurs in the space that surrounds it. As it records information it acquires new properties, but it’s chemical composition stays the same. Yet even more important than chemical composition is structure.
Water molecules form clusters. These clusters work as memory cells in which water records the whole history of its relationship with the world. In each of water’s memory cells there are 404,000 information panels. Molecular structure acts as the alphabet of water. (3 )
I transcribed this information which is contained in a documentary on You Tube. I will leave the link below. This really grabbed my attention, as it probably did yours. While I want to stay on the subjects of language and communication ( both of which are intricately connected to memory ) I thought it vital to include this for various reasons.
Throughout time, humans and cultures understood the interconnection of all things including the living aspect of trees, plants, rocks, mountains, and the elements. The further away modern day society removes itself from connection to nature, the further away we move from an innate place of knowing. It is almost as if as the Earth’s water dries up, our memory recedes.
The average human body is made up of 45 - 75% water. It is also known that our cells, genes and dna have memory. Our genes and dna are stored in the cell nucleus. Our cells are comprised of 70% water. The knowledge that water contains memory and responds to the stimulus to which it is exposed, is therefore of utmost importance.
Not only is it important to stay hydrated, but equally important is that we hydrate with the most pure water possible. Because our cells record all of our thoughts, conversations and experiences, it is paramount to pay attention to our thoughts, conversations and experiences; as they inform our genetic expression, our dna and ultimately our life experience. Here we come full circle to the saying, “ With your thoughts you create the world”.
The Language Of Sacred Geometry
If we have the mind to see it, we understand that literally everything is in communication. The study of astrology allows us to understand how planets in our solar system affect each other. Emergent patterns over time, enable us to see how planets inform events on Earth, and how they contribute in different ways to different epochs and events.
From the intricate ecosystems of Earth, far out to the cosmos and back to the microcosm of the body, it is communication that makes the world go round. The language of numbers ( mathematics) and sacred geometry pervades all space.
“Sacred geometry is an ancient science that explains the core principles of how energy naturally organizes itself across any scale - from the microscopic to the cosmic. Ancient cultures across India, China, Greece, and Egypt all considered sacred geometry to be a study of the blueprint of creation and life itself. “
“Sacred geometric patterns are said to be the fundamental structures upon which all matter is built. Every natural pattern that we see around us - from the light wave, snowflakes, crystals, the human body, the DNA, honeycomb, to the arms of a spiral galaxy - follows certain mathematical codes that naturally organize them into formations with specific ratios and proportions. But how do all these living and non-living structures “know” how to assemble in this symmetrical manner?”
“All of these patterns follow the mathematical code that governs the order of all creation. We are all expressions of the same energy. This underlying mathematical code expresses itself visually in the form of geometric patterns” (4)
“In the world of natural phenomena, it is the underlying patterns of geometric form, proportion and associated wave frequencies that give rise to all perceptions and identifications. Therein lies our fundamental capacity to relate, to interpret and to know. Most of the interpretations are of a graphic nature.” You can find the full article here
The Power of Words
Much like geometry gives form and structure to the material, words give form to thought. Our thoughts move from the formless into the form through speech, and eventually give rise to our reality. I have discussed this in former blogs when I have mentioned Dr. Bruce Lipton’s work and book on the biology of belief. While it is a great relief to know that we are not 100% bound by genetics ( as was previously believed) we must still remain keenly aware of our thoughts, language and communication, as it does indeed form our perception, and hence our reality.
In her article entitled , The Power of Quantum languaging, Lolita Walters writes, “If navigating the quantum realm of word frequencies feels somewhat illusive, then the lens of neuroscience can be looked through to examine the impact of words. Research confirms that words not only have deep psychological implications, they profoundly affect the outcome of your life.”
“A neuroscience experiment, published in the journal Pain as “Do words hurt? Brain activation during the processing of pain-related words”, was carried out by Maria Richter and a team of scientists in Germany to look at the neural mechanisms underlying the processing of certain words by the brain.”
“They investigated subjects who were required to engage with both auditory and imagined words that were categorised as pain-related, negative, positive or neutral words. During the experiment, their brain waves were monitored using functional MRI scanning. The outcome revealed that painful and negative words (which could also be referred to as low-frequency words in the context of quantum languaging) increased activity within the subgenual anterior cingulate cortex, an area of the brain that plays an important role in regulating emotion. In a nutshell, this proved that negative words have the power to produce stress- and anxiety-producing hormones in human subjects, even when they are just imagined.”
“On the flip side, the simple act of engaging with positive words, whether verbal, written or imagined, also has the power to affect your brain for the better at a biochemical level. In their co-authored book Words Can Change Your Brain, neuroscientist Dr Andrew Newberg and communication specialist Mark Waldman state that holding positive words in the mind stimulates frontal lobe activity, which includes specific language centres directly connected to the motor cortex, a part of the brain that moves you into action. This beautifully illustrates the notion of turning “thoughts to things”, or rather, turning words to real life manifestations that shape your world — both in perception and practice. “ (5)
How Mass Media Forms Perception
If you haven’t watched them , there are two documentaries on Netflix that I highly recommend. One is called The Social Dilemma and the other is called The Great Hack. Both of these documentaries reveal the dark side of social media and its ability to manipulate people’s views, emotions and conduct, all the while fostering addictive behavior and selling billions of dollars in goods and ideologies. While the former statement may seem obvious; both of these documentaries will sharpen your current awareness, while bringing to your attention issues of great import which may have escaped you thus far. I can assure you, you will never see media the same again - even if you thought you knew it all.
While browsing for material on the impact of media on society I came across a brilliant article which can be found here. It states, ”Mass media is the most powerful tool used by the ruling class to manipulate the masses. It shapes and molds opinions and attitudes and defines what is normal and acceptable. “ This article looks at the workings of mass media through the theories of its major thinkers, its power structure and the techniques it uses, in order to understand its true role in society.”
Many of you may be aware that a multitude of online articles can now be listened to as opposed to read. The above article has this feature. You will see the option at the top left of the article. Again, I highly recommend it!
What is Light Language?
Depending on what circles you move in, you may or may not have heard of Light Language. If you do an online search about Light Language, you are bound to find myriad definitions, perceptions and interpretations of this greatly misunderstood form of communication. Some dismiss it altogether as New Age, airy-fairy mumbo jumbo.
Upon introduction to Light Language, I can honestly say I saw it that way ( as mumbo jumbo). Then one day, I remembered that as a child I used to speak it. Light language comes in the form of words, hand gestures, script and geometry. It is believed to have the ability to awaken dormant information ( also called code) within various layers and levels of our being, including our DNA.
Light Language speakers speak a myriad of languages from far away places and lost civilizations such as: Pleiades , Sirius , Lyra, Arcturus, Atlantis and Lemuria. The most comprehensive and grounded article that I found to share is written by a woman named Lia Scallon. By the year 2014, Lia had already been speaking Light Language for 20 years.
Many children also speak Light Language. There is another term you may or may not have heard of called Starseed. Starseeds are people whose origin is not Earth, but who purposefully come from other planets and stars in order to help humanity move through the incredible shift we are currently experiencing. Starseeds are found all across the world and many of them are being born in great numbers right now.
Mary Rodwell ( a.k.a The Alien Lady) has been working with Starseed children and their families for many years. Mary helps both children and adults integrate experiences that they have when they are contacted by interdimensional and/or extraterrestrial beings. Below is what she says in an excerpt from Lia Scallon’s article ( The Language of Light ). The full article is here
“As a counsellor and researcher of individuals who believe they have had encountered star visitors, I know these Starseeds feel very connected to their cosmic Star families. The communication can be astral or physical. They experience ‘downloads’ of information manifesting as unusual scripts, complex geometric artwork, drawings of their star families, or speaking in unusual ‘star languages’. Many understand this as a Universal language or a language of light. Listening to these ‘languages’ can trigger new awareness as well as being an instrument of healing. I have known individuals, after hearing the languages, begin to write strange scripts themselves. It seems to be a catalyst for an awakening or a re-connection to another deeper part of the individual. I have been sent examples of these languages, both in scripts and audio from all over the globe, including from small children. One 9 year-old in Northern Europe told me that one of her star languages can heal water. Her mother told me the water tasted quite different after her daughter had spoken to it. I refer to these children as Star Children and they are being born all over the globe.” www.acern.com.au
My Why
Before today, had you ever really thought about how bacteria communicate? Were you aware that water holds memory? Had you temporarily pushed the role of the media (in shaping perception) to the back of your mind? Is that even possible anymore?
Were you aware that negative words have the ability to produce stress and anxiety causing hormones? Were you aware that positive words contribute to your neurobiological well being, or that thoughts become things? Maybe you knew all these things and it’s exciting to be reminded. Maybe the introduction of some of these ideas has opened a door in your mental perception. Who knows, you may suddenly break out in Light Language or soon remember that you are a Starseed.
There are several reasons I write a weekly blog. Firstly, I enjoy writing and I wish to cultivate my craft. Secondly, I am priming myself for writing a book. Last and certainly not least is that I wish to share ideas, thoughts and information. While I certainly do not have the expectation that anyone should view the world as I do; I know that my world has largely been shaped by information that people have shared with me.
Some weeks I write primarily from my own mind and experience. Other weeks I pull from many sources during my own exploration of a subject close to my heart. I am not of the mindset that all the information I share must come from me alone, especially in areas where my knowledge is not vast.
You notice that I am not afraid to quote others, or to suggest videos, or further reading. This is because my genuine aim is to broaden horizons for my readers. My aim is to inspire. I like to pique curiosity. I aspire to encourage thinking, feeling and contemplation. I enjoy opening doors of perception. If I have done my job well, today’s blog has done all of the above.
