Hello Dear reader. It has hard to believe that another week has already passed. My goodness! Do any of you have the perception or feeling of time being sped up? I hear a lot of talk about this lately (the past few years) and it sure seems that way sometimes - to me anyway. In only four days, it will be time for my week long break and I am very excited. As I mentioned last week I am going to treat it like a silent retreat - no screen time and lots of time spent going inward.
This means that the next post will be a video instead of a written post. As many of you know , I have a YouTube channel. Each Sunday I bring a guest on and we cover various topics. Next week my guest Lisa Farrand and I will be talking about flower essences. I am so excited, as this is an arena which benefits many many people. Flower essences are helpful for behavioral obstacles, working with emotions and perceptions, health challenges, challenging mind states including anxiety and depression and so much more.
Lisa is very gifted in her ability to work with flower essences. She uses them in work with herself, her clients and also animals. Lisa is also an animal communicator. Needless to say , our conversation will be very interesting and choc full of great information. So, because I am refraining from screen time next week, I will share the video as opposed to writing a blog. I am sharing this with you now, so it comes as no surprise next week.
A Fun and Powerful Gift (that’s free)
So, let’s jump right in shall we? Well, first a little intro for context. Last week ( April 22nd) was my niece’s first birthday. For her birthday I decided to create a document for her. The document will be something I add to each year, and send it to her as a birthday present. This year I started off with Gematria and Numerology as they correspond to her name and birthdate.
Gematria is the assignment of numerical values to the letters of the alphabet. There are two ways of calculating this. One is via the Pythagorean system and the other way is to use what is known as the Chaldean system. Using this link you can type in any name, word, etc and get the numerical value of each letter of a word as well as the sum total of all the letters.
Then using a numerology website (I prefer this one ) you can delve into the meaning of the numbers (of each letter and/or the sum total of all the letters in a word or name). I spent all day working with gematria and numerology and generated a nine page report for my niece. I had a lot of fun doing it and I learned a lot about her along the way. I also got to see where she and I have overlap.
Using an alphabet calculator and a numerology website, it’s easy to generate a report for a friend, family member or loved one. I like gifts that are not “things” and that cost no money. My niece’s gift is more of an experience than a thing. It is information she can interact with (as she grows, and throughout her life). I am sharing tools for her to use to learn about her own code and the qualities, gifts and challenges ( opportunities for growth) that she came in with.
Other things I will include over the years will be: astrology, the Mayan calendar, human design, gene keys, the enneagram and other tools for self - discovery.
If you have never taken a look at gematria and you like numbers, I highly recommend it. I play around with numbers all the time. I know I gave quite a few concrete examples in my post on numerology ( which you can find here ). If you start playing around with the numbers associated with the names and birth dates of yourself and the people in your life, you will find the numbers begin to speak to you. An unmistakable code emerges as the synchronicities express and announce themselves.
Thinking Outside of the Box
Using pattern recognition, the noting of synchronicity, symbolism and your own wisdom , it is easy to extrapolate meaning from things. In other words, if you are open and paying attention, what you are focusing on (in this case numbers and letters) will offer it’s wisdom to you. It becomes a dialogue, between you and the thing you are exploring. I had a lot of fun putting my niece’s report together.
And while I did use classical numerology to write her report, I also used my own wisdom and stepped outside of classical assignments of meaning within numerology and gematria. I inserted my own recognition and wisdom into her report, giving it a more personalized touch and adding more heart to it while providing a bridge for she and I that goes beyond simply “information”.
Cora Lee Sue Pershin ( My niece)
Here is an excerpt from her report. So Miss Cora Lee, let’s get started shall we? Let’s start with numbers - numbers are fun! Did you know that your name(s), and your birthdate all have special numbers? Well, they do - and by looking at those numbers, you can start learning about some of the ingredients in your birthday cake. I call it a birthday cake, because these are the ingredients that were already baked into your cake when you were born.
GEMATRIA
There is something called a Pythagorean numerology calculator. This calculator helps a person to assign numerical value to numbers. This is called “ Gematria”. Pythagoras was a famous mathematician from ancient Greece. He helped people to understand the importance of numbers and how they are everywhere in the world all around us - even in nature and outer space. As you get older I can tell you more about him if you are interested. He was a pretty amazing person! Lots of his knowledge and wisdom has shaped the world we now live in.
Ok Ms. Cora - are you ready? Here are the numbers of your name. CORA 3+6+9+1 = 19 LEE 3+5+5 = 13 SUE 1+3+5 = 9 PERSHIN 7+5+9+1+8+9+5 = 44 Wow! This is super amazing Cora Lee! There are so many clues in your name, it is quite fascinating to me, but we better wait until you get older for me to tell you what I see here, because right now, it might not make sense to you or your Mom and Dad. So for now , let’s stick to the basics ok?
Each of these numbers: 19, 13, 9 and 44 have their own significance and we will come back to that in a little bit. In general (with a few exceptions) you always add double digit numbers and reduce them to a single digit. However, you have some pretty great numbers and I think it would also be interesting to look at them as they are, without reducing them. First off, however, let’s add all your name numbers together - which gives us a 4 ! How did I do that? Like this: 1+9+1+3+9+4+4 = 31 ( 3+1 = 4) Wow! You have lots of 4s in your life don’t you? April (4) 22( 4), 20(22) - another 4. Four is a pretty powerful number. It represents the four seasons, the four directions and the four elements ( fire, earth, water and air). It is also an even number, which represents balance. Even numbers are called “yin” or feminine numbers and odd numbers are considered “yang” , or masculine numbers.
So then, 4 is the sum total of all your names. Now let’s look at each of your names separately. Cora has a value of 19, reduced to a single digit ( 1+9 = 10), reduced to a single digit = 1. Well kiddo, looks like you are #1. You know what that means don’t you? It means always put yourself first and you can’t go wrong. Putting yourself first is a sign of deep self respect and love. When you put yourself first and deeply love and care for YOU first, this makes you very well-equipped to be of true service to others, because you are well taken care of. No one can give from an empty cup. This will make sense as you get bigger, and I think it is important to include here. : )
Lee has the numerical value of 13. Thirteen is a very powerful number and is associated with the divine feminine. It carries a lot of power and as you get bigger and can understand, we can talk about the number 13 and how it got such a bad rap ( because it is so powerful). However, when you reduce 13 to a single digit , do you know what you get? You get 4 - another 4 Cora! Wow ! You really like those 4s don’t you? You are also the fourth child in your family - how about that?
Sue has the numerical value of 9 ( 1+3+5 = 9). Nine contains all the numbers one through nine and is said to be a number of completion. Nine is my favorite number and in numerology, I am a 9 - pretty cool don’t you think? 3,6 and 9 are all very important numbers. There was a famous man named Nikola Tesla and he said that if a person understood the secrets of 3,6 and 9, they would have the keys to the Universe. You notice, you have 3,6,9 ( and also 1) in your first name ( Cora ). So kiddo - all the secrets of the Universe are inside you! How special is that!? You can have fun in your life, by finding those secrets hidden within you . It’s kind of like a treasure hunt inside yourself. That’s pretty amazing I think.
Your last name, which is your Dad’s last name and your grandpa’s last name and your great grandpa’s last name ( even further back than that ) is the same as my last name too. It is the number 44, which adds up to 8 ( 4 + 4 ) - there are those 4s again. Eight is a magical number, some say it represents infinity. Infinity is something that is timeless, it is without beginning or end, it goes on forever.
Wow Cora Lee Sue Pershin, you have some pretty powerful numbers in your name ! I am amazed ! Cora comes from the word heart and has the value of one, so always put your heart first and you will come out on top. Lee adds up to thirteen and is associated with the divine feminine. So always remember your own divinity, you are a divine being. Sue is 9, which is the number of completion - you are complete, you are whole, always remember that, there is nothing that you lack. Pershin is an 8, or infinite, which means you are an infinite being, everyone is infinite actually, and sometimes we forget that. Your job is to remember.
Can you see how powerful numbers are Cora? Numbers have a lot of meaning and they have messages for us. The numbers say you are #1 and all the secrets of the universe are within you (Cora:3,6,9,1 = 19, 1+9 =10, 1+0 = 1), you are divine (Lee 3,5,5 - 13 ), you are complete (Sue 1,3,5 - 9) and you are infinite (Pershin - 8) .
Codes in Names, Numbers & Dates
As you can see, that was a lot of fun and I was able to discover a lot about Cora in simply exploring her name. Every so often I revisit my name , or my birthdate, or the dates corresponding to my parents days of birth and passing to discover hidden clues, patterns and synchronicities. You can also do this for the dates of important events in your life.
I went on to explore her birthdate and found a lot of information there too. This girl is strong on the 4s and 2s - born on 4/22/2022. Although Cora is only one year old and can not read, her parents can enjoy the report and share it with her as she grows and learns to read. This report is something that she will have for her whole life and will be added onto at every birthday. As a document, it is also interactive , meaning her parents can add to it or write questions to me if they like, and so can Cora once she grows (notice I am not saying “getting older” - language forms the psyche).
There is a link I found on the numerology website that explains the qualities of each letter of the alphabet, not for it’s numerical value, but simply as the letter it is. You can find that link here. It is quite fun to discover the meaning of every letter in the alphabet. You might like to look at the letters in your name and see if these qualities resemble your own.
Magic in Names & Numbers
I don’t know about you, but I love words, names and numbers and exploring all of their hidden meanings. I feel names and numbers inform our lives, if we care to take the time to look. As I explained to Cora in her report; upon birth we are like a cake with certain ingredients already baked in. When we explore our name and birthdate, our astrological chart and so forth, we have the opportunity for self exploration. And unless I am missing something, I think this is the whole reason we came here , is it not?
It would make me so happy if this post has inspired you in any way. Maybe you would like to look into these things. Perhaps you will explore gematria the next time you are working on a creative project such as: a name for a business or a website, or even a baby on the way. Maybe you would like to prepare a reading or report for a loved one or a fiend or family member who may not know about gematria or numerology.
Words , letters and numbers are a big part of our lives. Maybe it’s time to start engaging them in new and different ways. What do you think? I hope you will give it a try and open a new world for yourself and the people in your life.
